Bruce Springsteen continues to embrace his inner metal - head, opening his set in the Madness Music Festival March in Dallas with a cover of Van Halen's “Jump”.

First show of Springsteen North America took place at the meeting of City Park as part of the tournament NCAA basketball.

Longtime guitar tech Kevin Buell Springsteen also stepped in, wearing a referee uniform and imitating a jump with guitarist Nils Lofgren.

The band then launched into the anthem of the 80s, which was augmented by horn section Springsteen and Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello , who made the signature Eddie Van Halen solo look amazingly easy. Charlie Giordano handles synthesizer solo Van Halen to complete the song.

Sunday night's show marked the first appearance Patti Scialfa has done with the band since September. Guitarist Steven Van Zandt was not in the program, which led to his wife, Maureen, joked on Twitter: "For all you ask why Stevie VanZandt Bruce is not on the U.S. tour - which is replacing Harry Styles of One Direction for a bit.”

The band braved the rain and played a set of 25 songs that also featured "Hungry Heart" , "Badlands" , "Spirit in the Night" , "Johnny 99 ," "The River" No Surrender " , " The Ghost of Tom Joad " , " Land of Hopes and Dreams , "Born to Run" Glory Days " , " Dancing in the Dark " ( with a lot of girls who take selfies themselves on stage with the Boss ) " Tenth Avenue Freeze Out " " Thunder Road "and a version of" Shout " , breaking in the middle to exclaim " I'm just a prisoner of the eternal power of rock and roll! "

The E Street Band tour continues in U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati, and the group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on Thursday at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
